Corsair Cove Maps & Locations

From your skull-shaped home island to the fogged Seven Seas.

Last updated:

Corsair Cove treats geography as a gameplay system, not backdrop. Your starter island is a vertical puzzle of cliffs, beaches, quarries, and pier slots; the surrounding ocean is a strategic layer of fogged waypoints, Crown patrols, and loot events. This map hub collects location guides that explain where to build, what resources each biome hides, and how the world map connects back to colony management.

Begin with demo island if you are still setting up Plunderer’s Pier. That page documents the skull-shaped landmass from the Steam demo — shipwreck staging area, fertile tree lines, stone deposits, shallow pier anchors, gun tower sight lines, and the second camp slots you unlock after repelling Amara.

Full-release home islands now have dedicated guides: Skull Rock Island (July 2026 First Island Showcase — tropical skull capital) and Ship Graveyard Island (July 2026 lighthouse ruins and storm wrecks). When you are ready to sail, read world map overview for fog of war rules, Skull Rock as the first waypoint, Discovery Point events, and seamless transitions between island view and ocean view.

Two scales of navigation

Island scale (micro). You pan and zoom across cliff faces, placing camps, industry, housing, and defenses. Range circles from pirate camps define where new buildings function. Paths, rope bridges, and ramps determine how fast drifters move planks from a sawmill to a warehouse. Defensive planning happens here — gun towers covering pier approaches, taverns within walking distance of galleys, tents stacked on ledges that would be impossible in a flat city builder.

World scale (macro). Zooming out past your cove loads the regional map. Unexplored hexes sit under fog until a ship embarks to a waypoint. Each voyage takes real time based on hull speed; the demo’s land-lover class is deliberately slow to teach patience and repair cycles. Returning to pier unloads event loot and refreshes ship health before the next departure.

Full release promises multiple islands — Skull Rock and Ship Graveyard are now showcased in July 2026 trailers — plus forts, fair wind passages, and hidden fog events that grant compass points. Content the demo only previews through icons at the map edge.

Terrain and building constraints

Not every flat-looking surface is valid. Shallows accept pier foundations; cliff faces accept camps and factories; fertile patches accept woodcutters and cassava pickers; quarry markers accept stone extraction. Trying to place a tent on a steep slope fails silently until you rotate the camera and find a ledge with snap points. The skull motif is not cosmetic — the tallest ridges offer long sightlines for towers but require bridge investment to connect back to storage.

Second pier slots open on remote beaches after progression milestones, letting you run two ships with separate loot piles. Iron ore and freshwater sources often sit far enough from Plunderer’s Pier that the game pushes you toward a satellite camp rather than one mega-base.

Fog of war and exploration pacing

The world map hides everything beyond your ship’s current vision radius. Sending a vessel to Skull Rock reveals adjacent sea lanes and island silhouettes; completing events may unlock new icons like stranded crews or Crown hunters. Some nodes recommend specific ship classes — assaulting a fort with a land-lover is possible in the demo but punishing.

Seamless transition means there is no loading screen between managing a galley and ordering an embark. The same session flows from fixing a moonshine still to clicking a waypoint, watching the ship sail, and resolving a card battle overlay. Plan production around return trips: if bread stockpiles dip while you explore, schedule shorter routes until logistics catch up.

Resource placement details live in raw materials. Story beats tied to locations — Amara’s bombardment, hidden soldiers, first pier — are in the demo story walkthrough. Naval mechanics and pier management appear in first ship and exploration.

Use this hub as your atlas. We update location pages when Hooded Horse adds islands or reshapes demo boundaries around major patches ahead of the July 31, 2026 PC launch on Steam, Epic, GOG, and Microsoft Store, including day-one PC Game Pass availability.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

What is the demo island called?

Players start on a skull-shaped island; the main camp is named Plunderer's Pier during the story intro. Skull Rock also refers to the first nearby sea waypoint.

How does fog of war work on the world map?

Unvisited sea zones stay hidden until a ship travels to a waypoint or completes an adjacent event. Zooming out after your first embark reveals more of the local archipelago.

Can I build on every cliff face?

Most ledges with snap points support structures, but range from pirate camps still applies. Some resources require founding a new camp near distant deposits.
